Business Systems Specialist
Our client is looking for a Business Systems Specialist to join their team. This position provides direct management of the computerized Supply Chain software applications. Responsible for testing and implementation of software applications according to vendor specifications and established standards. Demonstrates a high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships while providing application support and consultation to customers and users of the system(s), as well as leads training and problem solving. Provides administrative data, analytic and strategic support to leadership team.
Business Systems Specialist Responsibilities
Implements, upgrades, tests, monitors, and maintains information workflow for department information systems application software and hardware.
Completes all projects assigned professionally and competently while in accordance with hospital policy/procedures. Takes the initiative when a task needs completion and accomplishes it or forwards it on to the appropriate area (with proper follow-up).
Coordinates and leads departmental training, providing documentation and assuring all staff have successfully completed.
Conducts research and provides managers and staff with information on software and system enhancements, upgrades and other workflow changes that will improve departmental process.
Acts as a liaison to Information Services (IS), other hospital departments, vendors, and end users to assess and resolve any system problems.
Responds to user inquiries providing troubleshooting, problem call logging, and escalation to a higher level of support as needed.
Communicates in writing and works in tandem with help desk revealing all techniques and methods used to bring systems back online allowing help desk to be a viable back up support system.
Promotes teamwork and assists in the planning and delivery of appropriate staff training.
Monitors and provides consistent feedback on productivity and quality standards.
Recommends additional training needs and cross training of individuals.
Personally cross trains and accepts other duties to assist others in the department to assure the department needs are met (provides back up for buyers and administrative assistant).
Enters and analyzes data for department projects, graphing and summarizing findings to support project outcome.
Assists departmental leadership in tracking and measuring progress on annual departmental goals supporting organizational goals.
LEAN project coordination, data gathering, and analysis.
Performs other assigned tasks, which are reasonable in scope and related to employee’s skill level.
Business Systems Specialist Qualifications
High School diploma required. AA Degree in Computer Science or equivalent preferred.
Computer systems experience with either a degree in computer science or a minimum of 5 years computer systems experience in a healthcare setting. Additional relative experience may be substituted for formal education at the rate of two years of experience for each year of education deficiency.
Experience with Material Management Information System hardware and software in a medical environment preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Suite required.
Maintains composure, consistency and accuracy under pressure.
Must have the ability to hold in confidence any information regarding patients, personnel, or any other matters which are confidential in nature.
Must have strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
Ability to handle multiple priorities and concerns easily while working in a busy, multidisciplinary setting.
Requires self-direction and the ability to exercise judgment in prioritization, accuracy, and promptness in completion of projects.
Ability to handle projects on an independent basis to establish goals and deadlines.
Skillful in classroom teach and/or working with adult learners strongly preferred.
