Business Intelligence & Analytics Analyst
Our client is seeking Business Intelligence & Analytics Analyst to join their team in Portland, OR. The Business Intelligence Analyst will be user facing role, responsible for soliciting and documenting business requirements from healthcare business partners, including physicians and healthcare leadership internally and externally. This position will also be translating business requirements into functional requirements for registry and BI solution development. The ideal candidate would have a strong grasp of clinical quality measurement, clinical workflows, and BI solution architecture.
In order to ensure user adoption, the Business Intelligence Analyst will carry out detailed data analysis and validation, iterating with clinical users and the project team to resolved data gaps or inconsistencies in the reporting solution. This will require the ability to navigate the Epic health record system, using modules like EpicCare Ambulatory, Chart Review, and Health Maintenance, as well functionality such as Record Viewer.
Along with the requirements gathering and data analysis, this position will be involved in developing solutions delivered through: Epic Radar Dashboards, Epic Reporting Workbench Reports, SAP Business Objects Web Intelligence and Tableau. The analyst will work with users and project team BI developers to design solutions that deliver meaningful clinical measurement to physicians, support staff and clinical leadership.
This role will have a high level of responsibility for the analysis, design, development, modification and support of highly complex computer applications and systems. This position provides expertise for a broad variety of systems and applications or clinical/operational workflows. The Senior Systems/Applications Analyst must be innovative and creative in solving problems and in meeting objectives in a timely manner. This position is responsible for determining requirements for new computer systems and evaluating vendor responses, providing consultation to others, training staff and customers, and acting as lead analyst.
Requirements gathering through strong collaboration with clinical users and other strategic partners.
Conduct stakeholder meetings to obtain system definition and design approvals for innovative BI solutions.
Perform analysis of existing applications and systems or clinical/operational workflows for simplification or enhancement
Provide complete and consistent documentation using BIMD accepted processes and tools, leveraging information acquired from multiple data sources including but not limited to – Epic modules, patient experience survey systems, third party payor claims, and other data sources. Accurate capture of associated business processes, potential process improvements, data availability, structure, and relationships. Facilitating working sessions with clinical users, clinical leadership, project team members and functional partners such as Clinical Informatics workflow analysts.
Detailed data analysis to identify data sources, definitions and the correct implementation of business rules. This will require the use of Epic Hyperspace tools such as record viewer, registry monitor, registry editor, and rule editor.
Ensure data integrity and validity of systems and applications
Work with business partners to determine the accuracy of value sets used in business rules.
Partnering with the Data Governance Program to develop a library of metrics, value sets, analytics solutions and reporting assets produced.
System Design and Development
Analyze Epic functionality to simplify solution design, improve flow of data, and make use of enhancements. This will require familiarity with navigating Epic Galaxy.
Analyze present and future system needs of customers and make recommendations on options and alternatives for implementing applications and systems. Also provide cost/benefit analysis of proposed recommendations.
BI Solution design, develop and document new BI solutions that best meet the customers’ requirements and business goals, considering:
Variations in data sources
Availability of external data
BI tool functionality
Working closely with technical developers and application team to ensure the technical solution meets the business requirements. This will include evaluating business logic and data transformation in ETL, as well as Hyperspace CER rules.
Develop and complete implementation and test plans
Contributing to the development of Hyperspace reporting solutions, including: Epic Radar Dashboards and Epic Reporting Workbench Reports
Contributing to the development of Epic Clarity or Epic CDW analytical solutions using SAP Business Objects Web Intelligence and Tableau.
Develop test plans/documentation, conduct testing and validation as appropriate.
Working with business users on integrating the BI solutions to help providers care for populations and clinical leaders drive change.
Creating project artifacts that add transparency to clinical quality measurement, including: measure specification, measure stewardship, federal and state level incentive programs, and variation in patient attribution across programs.
Contribute to registry architecture by providing expertise on a patient populations relevance to measurement program, alternative payment model or health network.
Master’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and four years’ work related experience in the information technology field
OR Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and 6 years work related experience in the IT field or a combination of clinical/operational healthcare environments.
OR Associate’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and 7 years work related experience in the IT field or a combo of clinical/operational healthcare environments
OR 8 years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments.
OR Equivalent combo of ed and exp where 1 year of exp will be substituted for an Associate’s degree and 2 years of exp will be substituted for a Bach.
Minimum three years of business analyst experience.
Experience leading requirements gathering sessions and documenting associated business requirements for large-scale IT projects.
Two or more years’ experience with Epic Electronic Health Record.
Two or more years experience with Epic query tools: record viewer, Reporting Workbench.
Two or more years experience relational databases.
Familiarity with quality measurement related websites, such as qpp.cms.gov and qualityforum.org
Familiarity with quality measurement programs, such as MACRA-MIPS, CPC+, Total Joint Replacement and Oncology Care Model.
Ability to read a technical measure specification produced by measure steward.
