Business Intelligence Analyst
As a member of the Business Intelligence team, the Business Intelligence Analyst works as part of a team to assist the agency in collecting meaningful data and provides trusted information to make data driven decisions. The Business Intelligence Analyst communicates and collaborates with stakeholders, documents requirements, develops technical solutions, writes and test SQL queries, formats and presents reports, creates documentation, and trains end-users on running reports. The Business Intelligence Analyst partners with agency staff and other IT professionals to design and develop overall solutions that meet client business requirements. The Business Intelligence Analyst manages ambiguity in planning and implementing Business Intelligence strategies for the organization.
Business Intelligence Analyst Responsibilities
Analyze and evaluate business processes, data needs and system functionality in the design and implementation of accurate and reliable reporting and data collection techniques.
Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand business needs and evaluate priorities. Provide strategic advice and consultation, raising critical issues related to data integrity and accessibility to influence and drive decision making.
Determine effective business intelligence methods. Evaluate various data sources and collection strategies, identify strengths and weaknesses, assess results and implement systemic solutions that affect business operations to a substantial degree.
Accountable for determining and defining appropriate collection and measurement techniques and compiling data to fulfill external reporting requirements with significant impact to financial position, business operations and compliance with funding sources.
Write and test SQL queries.
Review, evaluate and confirm report specifications and requirements.
Run, format and present reports. Test new and revised reports for accuracy before deployment to production environment or distribution to end-users.
Create processing documentation and business agreements.
Develop and maintain custom reports and dashboards for internal and external customers using Credible BI (EHR Tool), Power BI or other BI tools.
Present data to leadership.
Assist with training of BI staff and management which may include Power BI as well as train end-users on running reports.
Represent the company as a member of our data and reporting groups with the state, county and CCO’s as needed.
Contribute to the development of strategy for a Business Intelligence roadmap.
Talent for visual presentation of data.
Advise leadership on use of technology to advance organization’s use of data.
Work with Community Partners to manage flow of data for reporting (Hospitalizations, appointment reminders).
Participate in all scheduled staff meetings, supervision sessions and other departmental and agency meetings.
Complete annual employee training requirements on a timely basis as required.
Business Intelligence Analyst Qualifications
Degree in the field of computer science, information systems, information management, business administration, statistics, or relevant analytical discipline.
Five years’ equivalent work experience as an IT Business Intelligence Analyst. Additional experience in similar position may substitute a degree.
Prior experience working at a mental health agency or non-profit a plus. Experience working with healthcare, mental health, or pharmacy related data would be a plus. Prior experience working with Electronic Health Records.
SQL skills and experience writing and testing SQL queries.
Proficiency in MS SQL report development and related analytic techniques.
Advanced Excel skills, including complex spreadsheets, pivot tables, charting, formulas, and data manipulation.
Experience using visualization tools such as SSRS, Tableau or other Business Intelligence tools.
Experience developing reports and dashboards in Power BI using Dax.
Prior experience working at a mental health agency or non-profit preferred.
Experience in implementing ETL and familiarity with SSIS.
Working knowledge of Crystal Reports would be beneficial.
