Our client is hiring a Biomechanics Researcher for their team in Beaverton, Oregon. As the Biomechanics Researcher, you will be responsible for executing research projects (both applied and basic research) aimed at delivering validated performance insights that will lead to technologically innovative footwear, apparel and equipment that are globally relevant. You will participate in the development of new tools, methods and procedures that will streamline data acquisition. In addition, you will become a resident authority for all of the biomechanical research tools used internally. You will serve as a full time member of the Product Creation Process, interacting with Principal Researchers and Product Innovators in all phases of research to provide a holistic evaluation of innovation concepts. You will demonstrate commitment to product performance research through attendance at scientific meetings, clinics and conferences, and by communicating research findings and insights to diverse audiences.
Biomechanics Researcher Qualifications
M.Sc. in Biomechanics, or related field including Engineering, Kinesiology, Anthropometry, Human Factors, or Ergonomics or five years of relevant work experience in lieu of a graduate degree.
Possess a thorough understanding of anatomy, biomechanical principles, experimental design and statistical procedures.
Demonstrate an understanding of sport performance, soft tissue & rigid body motion, and injury mechanisms.
Experience in programming is strongly preferred (Matlab, Mathematica, Labview, C/C++, or Python).
Experience with tools used to collect biomechanical data (e.g. motion capture, force plates, IMU, pressure, EMG, etc.).
Experience using research to directly impact consumer products and/or product creation (traditional & digital) preferred.
Knowledge of apparel product creation processes is a plus.
Exposure to industrial research experience preferred.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Demonstrated experience being a creative scientist – ability to apply scientific insights to performance product.
Good communication and people skills; evidence of translation of science to product.
Experience working with test subjects.
