Associate Material Innovator
Our client is seeking a Associate Material Innovator to join their dynamic team in Beaverton, OR. As a Associate Material Innovator - Textiles you will join our client’s Footwear Materials Innovation (FMI), a team focused on driving material solutions to targeted footwear application areas within FMI. You will be asked to support prototyping and technical problem solving on cross-functional initiatives where engineered textile technology plays a key role. The project teams will be made up of people from across the matrix including Development, Engineering, Design, Sports Research, Concept Creation, etc. for Running, Basketball, and Global Football. Strong technical capabilities and experience with textile and fiber science, prototyping, process engineering, and testing are required. Capabilities in polymers and/or mechanical engineering are desirable, but not required.
Associate Material Innovator Responsibilities:
Support the delivery of NXT projects through prototyping and technical problem solving in collaboration with the broader team as the materials specialist.
Identify vendors of fiber and textile materials, curate, and keep an organized inventory.
Create DOEs per team direction, execute, track and summarize results.
Coordinate and execute processing trials using footwear construction methods.
Operate specialized footwear and textile machinery.
Test materials and components in our client’s internal and external labs.
Curate and disseminate results to the broader team in a clear, concise manner.
Associate Material Innovator Qualifications:
Mechanical Engineering or Machinery experience required.
Bachelor's degree in Textile and Fiber Science, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field is preferred, but alternative educational qualifications will be considered, i.e. technical certification and years of experience.
A minimum of 3 years experience working with textile materials and a solid understanding of its technology and related state-of-the-art fabrication methods is preferred, but entry-level applicants with strong organizational capacity will be considered.
Strong attention to detail, proven ability to organize, prioritize, and deliver results.
Knowledge of material supply base, vendors, and industry-standard test methods and analytical techniques.
Strong interpersonal effectiveness and data-based decision making (i.e. statistical methods) track record.
